Credit union membership requirements

Credit union membership requirements usually mean two things: you must fit a published field of membership, and you must open a membership share (often $1–$25) while passing identity verification (CIP). Extra fees or association enrollments appear only when the CU publishes them.

Joinable only paraphrases published field-of-membership (FOM) and fee facts from credit-union sites (and NCUA materials when relevant). We never invent eligibility, fees, or ATM counts. Always re-check the CU’s membership page before you apply.
Not a guarantee: Matching a published join path does not mean you will be approved. Credit unions still verify identity (CIP) and apply their own account rules.

1. Field of membership

Live/work/worship/school geography, employer SEG, family, or association. Details: What is FOM.

2. Membership share / deposit

Opening a primary savings/share at the published minimum makes you a member-owner. See share account guide.

3. CIP / identity

Expect government ID, SSN/ITIN, and address verification. Matching FOM is not approval.

4. Association / donation paths

Examples on Joinable: free TXCC (e.g. TDECU, Firstmark), facilitated ACC (e.g. UFCU), or small dues like A+ Education Foundation $10. These are labeled — not secret open doors.
