Not financial advice
Joinable is an informational directory. Nothing on this site is financial, legal, or tax advice, and nothing here guarantees that a credit union will open an account for you.
Not a guarantee: Meeting a published field of membership does not mean you will be approved. Credit unions still run identity checks (CIP — Customer Identification Program) and their own account rules. Always confirm on the credit union’s site before applying.
What Joinable does
- Summarizes publicly posted membership / “who can join” rules with source links
- Labels how hard a join path looks for a typical consumer (Easy / Medium / Hard) based on published criteria — not on secret scoring
- Notes published fees or ATM networks only when we can cite a primary source; otherwise we say the fee is unpublished
What Joinable does not do
- Does not approve accounts, underwrite loans, or act as a credit union or bank
- Does not guarantee NCUA or private share insurance coverage for any product — check the institution’s disclosures
- Does not replace talking to the credit union about eligibility, identification documents, or product terms
- Is not affiliated with NCUA, ASI, or any listed credit union
Confirm with the credit union
Field-of-membership rules change. Pages can lag. Before you apply:
- Open the credit union’s official membership / join page (linked from each listing)
- Confirm you qualify under their current rules
- Expect CIP identity verification and the CU’s own approval decision
Share insurance (plain English)
Many U.S. credit unions are federally insured by the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration). Some California credit unions use private share insurance such as ASI instead. Joinable labels insurer where we verified it; always confirm on the CU’s site or NCUA/ASI resources. Insurance does not mean “you will be approved to join.”
