If you’re in Greater Chicago (Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will, and/or Kane — with McHenry/Kendall/NW Indiana only when a CU’s published FOM includes them), start with a CU whose published field of membership already covers live / work in those counties or a labeled Illinois association / Foundation path.
